Honest product comparisons
Different tools for different parts of a life
A planner, an AI journal, a habit tracker, and a personality assessment can all be useful. They are not interchangeable.
These comparisons are for choosing the job you actually need. Some products below are better when the main need is detailed planning, frequent AI conversation, unlimited journaling, or a norm-referenced personality report.
Arrange goals, time, and change
For people deciding between a planner, a habit system, and a quieter structure around one meaningful direction.
Hello Momentum and Macro Focus
Choose Hello Momentum to arrange projects and time. Choose Macro Focus to keep direction, action, experience, and revision connected.
Enough structure to act. Enough room to change your mind
Macro Focus offers quiet, human-scale planning around a direction—not exhaustive calendar optimization or an ever-growing task inventory.
Track a change without turning yourself into the score
Macro Focus is a habit-tracker alternative for people who want weekly action without streaks, overdue states, daily scoring, or starting-over debt.
Think with an AI mentor or journal
For people comparing ongoing AI conversation with a narrower product in which writing, retention, and AI requests remain separate choices.
Purpose and Macro Focus
Purpose leads with an AI mentor. Macro Focus leads with a person-owned direction and uses AI only when the person asks.
Rosebud and Macro Focus
Choose Rosebud for a responsive AI-journaling relationship. Choose Macro Focus when journaling is one part of carrying a direction into life.
Reflection and Macro Focus
Reflection is stronger for an unlimited, journal-first practice. Macro Focus is for reflection that needs to stay connected to direction and action.
Mindsera and Macro Focus
Mindsera offers broad journal analysis and frameworks. Macro Focus keeps interpretation narrower and ties reflection to a person-authored direction.
When a conversation is useful, but continuity needs more structure
Macro Focus is not a free conversational AI journal. It is a direction-and-reflection system in which paid AI is optional and the manual core can continue without provider calls.
A general AI can answer almost anything. This is a narrower tool
Choose general AI for open-ended capability. Choose Macro Focus when personal context needs stable structure, bounded inference, visible retention choices, and a useful provider-free fallback.
Use the practical tools on their own merits
Straight answers about the bounded no-charge Notes and Big Five surfaces, and the paid provider costs behind voice and AI.
Notes that remain useful when paid access ends
After the trial, Limited Access can keep up to 50 active text Notes and 30 active Journal entries, with search, editing, date scheduling, export, and deletion.
Speak naturally. Keep only what is useful
Voice transcription and AI-assisted summaries are paid provider services included during the complete trial and on Core or Plus—not in no-charge Limited Access.
A private Big Five snapshot that stays available at $0
Big Five 120 remains available in no-charge Limited Access after the trial, with local scoring and five saved domain scores.
Understand Myself and Macro Focus
Understand Myself provides its own norm-referenced factor-and-aspect report. Macro Focus provides a simpler, locally scored five-domain snapshot inside an ongoing reflection tool.
The no-charge fallback is real—and bounded
Limited Access keeps one manual Focus aim and goal with up to three total steps, up to 50 active text Notes, 30 active Journal entries, finite text Wisdom, and the locally scored Big Five 120 assessment. It makes no paid AI or voice-provider calls.
Core and Plus cover the provider-backed services you deliberately start: a bounded AI response, spoken journal transcription, optional journal summaries, narration, and tentative Patterns. Live transcription can automatically detect language, but results vary by language, accent, recording quality, and provider availability. The transcript remains editable.
Nothing is charged today. The selected Core or Plus plan begins automatically after 14 days unless you cancel in Settings. Cancel during the trial and complete access continues through its end; the account then moves to Limited Access with no scheduled expiry or recurring charge while the account and service remain available.
Is Macro Focus an AI journal?
Not primarily. Core and Plus include requested AI reflection, spoken transcription, and optional journal summaries. The product itself is organized around direction, action, Notes, possible patterns, Wisdom, and return. Limited Access uses no provider-backed AI or voice.
Is Macro Focus a daily planner?
No. Focus can hold chosen aims, supporting goals, and weekly steps, but Macro Focus is not a replacement for a detailed calendar, automatic scheduler, project manager, or work-integration system.
Is Macro Focus free?
A card-backed Core or Plus trial begins the current public path. Nothing is charged today, and the chosen paid plan starts after 14 days unless canceled. When an accepted trial or paid period ends, bounded Limited Access remains at $0 with no scheduled expiry or recurring charge while the account and service remain available.
