Modern notes without a hostage ending

Notes that remain useful when paid access ends

Macro Focus includes a quick written Notes space, Journal entries, search, editing, and the ability to place a note on a date. It is designed for capturing something without turning every thought into a project.

The no-charge version is real and deliberately bounded. It becomes available after an accepted trial or paid period ends. It is not a free AI notebook: voice, attachments, AI summaries, and smart reminders require Core or Plus.

The exact boundary

Free usefulness and paid provider services are separated here so the page does not imply that AI, voice, or advanced synthesis has no cost.

Included in Limited Access at $0

  • Up to 50 active text Notes
  • Up to 30 active text Journal entries
  • Up to 10,000 plaintext characters per item, or the documented encrypted-envelope boundary
  • Search, editing, deletion, and placing a note on a date
  • Readable export and account deletion controls

Not included at $0

  • Voice recording or transcription
  • AI summaries, classification, suggestions, or generated writing
  • Media and file attachments
  • Smart or scheduled reminders
  • The paid Note Details depth layer

What Core and Plus add

  • Requested AI reflection and optional journal summaries
  • Spoken capture with an editable transcript
  • Attachments, deeper Note Details, and smart reminders
  • Patterns that can connect selected evidence without treating it as a verdict

Scheduling without building another task machine

A written note can be placed on a date and found again in the schedule views. In Limited Access, that is organization—not an automated reminder service. Nothing nags, escalates, or converts a missed date into a personal score.

If the main need is a full calendar, project manager, recurring task engine, or team workspace, a dedicated planner will be the more complete choice.

What privacy means here

Many retained personal text fields are encrypted before storage. Account, timing, relationship, completion, preference, and delivery metadata are not all covered by that same boundary, so Macro Focus does not call itself zero-knowledge.

Opening, writing, saving, or searching an ordinary note does not itself ask an AI provider. When a paid AI or voice action is deliberately started, the relevant content must be processed in readable form for that request.

The no-charge fallback is real—and bounded

Limited Access keeps one manual Focus aim and goal with up to three total steps, up to 50 active text Notes, 30 active Journal entries, finite text Wisdom, and the locally scored Big Five 120 assessment. It makes no paid AI or voice-provider calls.

What the card-backed trial actually does

Nothing is charged today. The selected Core or Plus plan begins automatically after 14 days unless you cancel in Settings. Cancel during the trial and complete access continues through its end; the account then moves to Limited Access with no scheduled expiry or recurring charge while the account and service remain available.

Questions worth answering plainly

Limits and exclusions are part of the product choice, not fine print after it.

Is this a free AI notes app?

No. Text Notes and Journal remain available within the Limited Access boundaries, but AI assistance and voice transcription require trial, Core, or Plus access.

Are the free Notes unlimited?

No. Limited Access supports up to 50 active Notes and 30 active Journal entries, with a per-item text boundary. Existing included material above a downgrade limit remains readable and exportable rather than being deleted.
