Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Macro Focus, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. Accounts & Security

  1. You’re responsible for your account and keeping your passphrase safe.
  2. We cannot recover lost E2EE keys or passphrases.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

  1. The 14-day introductory trial requires a payment method. Nothing is charged at checkout. Unless you cancel before the disclosed trial end, the selected monthly, quarterly, or annual plan begins automatically. We send an app-owned reminder before the first charge when Stripe notifies us that the trial is ending.
  2. The introductory trial is limited to one per person and payment method during our disclosed abuse-prevention period. If a payment method has already received the trial, we cancel the duplicate trial attempt without charging you for that attempt or granting product access. You may continue through a checkout that clearly starts the selected paid plan immediately.
  3. Paid plans renew unless canceled. You can cancel directly in Settings; cancellation is effective at the end of the current billing term and no further renewal is scheduled. At that end, an accepted trial or paid account moves to no-charge Limited Access rather than deleting your account data.
  4. Limited Access has no scheduled expiry or recurring charge while your account and the service remain available. It preserves reading of included content, export, deletion, a small manual Focus loop, bounded text Notes and Journals, finite Wisdom, and the stated deterministic psychology snapshots. It excludes AI, voice, Patterns, Note Details, attachments, smart reminders, narration, and advanced synthesis. Histories from those excluded paid features remain preserved in your self-serve export and account erasure, but are not available inside Limited Access. Included material above a creation limit is not deleted.
  5. If the first post-trial subscription charge was made within the previous seven days and has not already been refunded, Settings offers a self-serve full refund. The subscription will not renew, and access remains through the current term. Later renewal charges are handled under applicable law and any additional remedy we confirm in writing.
  6. If a renewal payment fails, we notify you and provide a seven-day access grace period while payment details are updated. Stripe may retry payment during that period. Access can end earlier if the processor marks the subscription unpaid, fraudulent, disputed, or canceled.
  7. Refunds may take additional banking time to appear. A chargeback or dispute does not create a second refund. Prices may change with prior notice.
  8. We use Stripe for payment processing. See their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

4. Acceptable Use

  1. No unlawful, infringing, or abusive activity. No attempts to reverse engineer or disrupt the service.
  2. Do not try to bypass security, rate limits, or budget caps.
  3. Do not create alternate identities or reuse payment credentials to obtain repeated introductory trials.

5. Intellectual Property

Your vault content is yours. The Macro Focus service, logo, and code are our IP or licensed to us.

6. Privacy

Covered personal text fields use client-side encryption. Some operational service data remains readable, and content you deliberately submit for an optional AI response, voice transcription, journal summary, or provider-backed playback is processed in readable form as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” without warranties. We don’t guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Macro Focus is a reflective companion for attention, context, and chosen action. It does not provide psychotherapy, medical or mental health care, substance-use treatment, diagnosis, or emergency services. Generated responses may be incomplete or mistaken; you retain responsibility for your judgment and choices. When appropriate, seek help from a qualified professional or local emergency service.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amounts you paid in the 12 months before a claim.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
